This Sunday, November 5, the disputed and emotional Intercommunity Football Championship “II Copa Ocho Sur” comes to an end, after more than three months of qualifying matches between 26 teams, both men and women, belonging to 15 communities in the districts of Nueva Requena and Curimaná.
The football event, which has become the great intercommunity sports festival in Pucallpa, has been organized for the second year by Ocho Sur, a business group dedicated to the sustainable production of oil palm products and derivatives in Ucayali, within the framework of its social responsibility policy. and community relations.
In this grand final, prominent former soccer players Sergio “Checho” Ibarra, considered the all-time top scorer in the first division of Peruvian soccer, will participate as guests; and Roberto “Chorri” Palacios, the player with the greatest number of matches as part of our Soccer Team, defending it 128 times.
In this second edition of the Ocho Sur Cup, communities, hamlets and population centers from Shambo Porvenir, Tres Islas, Nueva Esperanza, Los Ángeles, Unión Progreso, La Perla de Sanja Seca, Naranjal, Bajo Rayal, Caribe, San Juan de Tahuapoa, Santa Clara de Uchunya, Nuevo Eden, San Pablo de Juantía, Roca Fuerte and Kokama.
The soccer tournament played between 11 women’s teams and 15 men’s teams, culminated with great success and excitement on the part of players and residents who, week after week, experienced the sports festival on their own fields, thus strengthening the ties of friendship between neighbors.

While the men’s championship reaches the grand final with the meeting between the representative teams of the Shambo Porvenir native community and the Roca Fuerte town center.
