25 September, 2025

Expo Indígena 2025, the leading business event for Indigenous Peoples in Peru and South America, opened its doors at the Lima Convention Center in San Borja and will remain open to the public until Sunday, September 28. Admission is free.

The fair, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Indigenous Peoples of Peru, welcomes the participation of the native communities of Santa Clara de Uchunya, Shambo Porvenir, and Kokama Unida Ecológica of Curimaná (Ucayali). Their attendance is supported by Ocho Sur, a palm oil company in Ucayali recognized for its longstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility and community relations.

For three days, Expo Indígena 2025 brings together indigenous entrepreneurs, private companies, government organizations, and international cooperation agencies, with the purpose of strengthening indigenous economies and building alliances that foster sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by native populations.

Women leaders representing Ucayali

Representing their communities are Pamela Espinoza (Deputy Chief of Uchunya), Elizabeth Tangoa (Chief of Shambo), and Amelia Pacaya (Chief of Kokama), who present ancestral native art through handcrafted shirts, dresses, necklaces, bracelets, blouses, and other textile and jewelry creations.

“Expo Indígena allows Indigenous Peoples to showcase the work we are carrying out in our communities. It demonstrates our dedication as women artisans in clothing design inspired by our origins, as well as in agriculture through oil palm cultivation, which has helped improve our quality of life,” said Amelia Pacaya.

A space for culture, fair trade, and sustainability

More than a commercial event, Expo Indígena 2025 is a platform where culture, fair trade, and biodiversity conservation converge. It is a call to build a future in which development means respect, equity, and inclusion.

The exhibition is open to the public until Sunday, September 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lima Convention Center, San Borja. Admission is free of charge.
