OCHO SUR DELIVERED 3 TONS OF FOOD TO THE NATIVE COMMUNITY OF SANTA CLARA DE UCHUNYA

23 January, 2025

As a result of heavy rains in the Ucayali region, the Native Community of Santa Clara de Uchunya was flooded by the rising flow of the Aguaytia River, leaving them practically isolated due to roads destroyed by water and mud, without food and at risk of acquiring any disease.

Faced with this emergency situation, the Ocho Sur business group, dedicated to the sustainable production of oil palm products and by-products in Ucayali, stepped in to support this Shipibo-Konibo community by delivering a total of 3 tons of food, as part of its social responsibility policy.

Upon learning of the flooding, the palm-growing company immediately contacted Wilson Barbaran Soria, the Apu of the Santa Clara de Uchunya community, to assess the needs for addressing the problems caused by the natural disaster.

In this way, Ocho Sur, demonstrating its commitment to contributing to the welfare of its neighbors and strengthening bonds of friendship and good neighborliness, proceeded to donate the 3 tons of essential food for the community’s inhabitants.

The delivery of the emergency food aid was handled by Ocho Sur’s Community Relations Manager, Ulises Saldaña, who brought the greetings and solidarity of the company´s senior managment.

For his part, the community leader, Barbaran Soria, once again expressed his recognition and gratitude to Ocho Sur on behalf of the inhabitants for its constant collaboration and support in the most challenging times.
