The Ocho Sur oil extraction plant, a business group dedicated to the sustainable production of oil palm products and by-products, received international certifications ISO 14001-2015 and ISO 45001-2018, for its good practices in caring for the environment, as well as as well as the safety and health of its workers.
ICONTEC Peru, a subsidiary of the official standardizing body of Colombia, one of the main accreditors and certifiers in Latin America, Central America and the Caribbean, granted these certifications as a result of the analysis, evaluation and audit that it developed of the management and operation processes used by the Ocho Sur oil extraction plant.
ABOUT ISO 14001 AND 45001
ISO 14001-2015 is an international certification that highlights and validates good business practices for the prevention and protection of the environment in accordance with current legislation; while, ISO 45001-2018 is a certification that highlights companies whose labor policy allows them to prevent injuries and illnesses related to their activity, thus providing safe and healthy environments for their workers.
The delivery of the certifications took place at the headquarters of the processing plant, located in the district of Nueva Requena, in Ucayali, in a meeting chaired by Michael Spoor, general manager of Ocho Sur, and which was attended by other senior officials. of the palm growing company.
“We are proud of the team we have in Peru. The international certifications received are an important achievement for the company because they demonstrate the high quality of the product we provide; as well as the protection that we dedicate to the environment and the safety that we offer to our workers,” remarked the general manager.
Likewise, Spoor reaffirmed that, since its inception in 2016, Ocho Sur has been working for business excellence, with the highest standards of social responsibility, protection of its workers and compliance with Peruvian laws.
Finally, he highlighted that the palm oil extraction plant, in addition to being one of the most modern in South America, is an example of an operation with a circular economy that reuses all products and byproducts of the production process in a sustainable manner.
