Given the proliferation of false information spread by certain media and organizations interested in sowing discord among Peruvians for their own benefit, Ocho Sur wants to clarify some fundamental points:
- Our farms have had their Soil Classification for Greater Use Capacity for more than five years, approved by MIDAGRI. In fact, we are one of the 41 Private Productive Units throughout the country that have complied with the current law.
- Our two farms have authorizations for Change of Land Use granted by the competent authority and the corresponding payment for this right has been made to the GOREU.
- Since our arrival in 2016, we have not deforested a single square meter and, on the contrary, we have reforested nearly 400 hectares and have signed an agreement with the Native Community of Shambo Porvenir to protect 800 hectares of forests for 25 years on behalf of our company.
- We express our respect for all the institutions of the Peruvian Government in its three branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We reject the way in which some non-governmental organizations seek to impose their criteria, at all costs, without considering the reputational damage they cause to people and institutions.
- We stand in solidarity with the millions of Peruvian farmers who live illegally and are subject to criminalization by regulations promoted by these organizations, which are not capable of recognizing the existing reality and the clamor of the productive sector that generates more employment in the country and is the basis of food security in Peru.
In these Christmas festivities, we call for serenity, the search for peace and constructive dialogue on the part of these non-governmental organizations that lack total legitimacy and people related to them.
Only through unity, respect and the promotion of values can inclusive and sustainable development be achieved for the benefit of the Peruvian people, and not just a few groups that do not represent the interests of the people.
