PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE AND JUDICIAL POWER FILE 3 COMPLAINTS AGAINST OCHO SUR

3 March, 2022

Because they lacked any support, the Public Ministry and the Judiciary decided to file three complaints against the company Ocho Sur, dedicated to the sustainable production of oil palm products and derivatives in Ucayali.

The palm oil company was blamed for the construction of two illegal roads, one on land owned by a third company and another on land supposedly owned by a native community, also accusing the company of alleged deforestation and land usurpation.

Likewise, in a malicious and slanderous manner, Ocho Sur officials were denounced for allegedly having forced their workers to work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The complaint for the alleged deforestation that included the improvement of two gravel roads was filed by the Judiciary, which forcefully rejected the accusation because the attributed facts were not duly accredited.

The other accusation for alleged usurpation of land belonging to a native community was also filed by the Public Ministry, because once again the reported fact was not substantiated and, much less, there was evidence to attribute these events to Ocho Sur.

Finally, in another forceful resolution, the Public Ministry filed the third accusation for allegedly forcing workers to work during the pandemic, after verifying that there were no minimum elements that justified starting an investigation.

This was announced by the legal spokesperson for the palm oil company, Daniel Huamán, who stated that the latter relied on anonymous publications on social networks and, despite the fact that the prosecutor provided considerable time for the complainant to present some evidence of her claims. , this did not occur.

He stressed that the aforementioned complaints are evidence of a clear strategy to harass and damage the reputation of Ocho Sur, with false and repetitive accusations that are then promoted on certain digital portals in an orchestrated manner.

He added that, as a company, the Public Ministry, the Judiciary and all State authorities and entities were alerted so that they do not allow themselves to be surprised, pressured and/or intimidated by unscrupulous organizations and people who only seek to cause conflicts between neighbors.

“Likewise, they seek to damage the reputation of the people of our region and the good name of companies that, being formal businesses like Ocho Sur, comply with all national and international laws, and that protect their workers, their neighbors and the environment.” environment,” said the company’s legal representative.
