In a General Assembly of its residents, the Santa Clara de Uchunya Native Community decided to strengthen its relations with the Ocho Sur business group, dedicated to the sustainable production of palm products and by-products in the Ucayali region.
The important community meeting was attended by the mayor of the Nueva Requena district, Gilder Pinedo, and main representatives of the company, who agreed by majority decision of the community members, to ratify their desire to maintain relations of peace, friendship, development and mutual cooperation.
In this context, the District Municipality of Nueva Requena and Grupo Ocho Sur have been developing the rehabilitation of the interconnection highway that the residents of the Community use to connect with the district capital and the towns of Caribe, Naranjal, Shambo Porvenir, Pucallpa and others.
This work of great social and economic importance has been carried out under the Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement signed in March 2021 with the participation of the Santa Clara de Uchunya Community.
In this regard, the general manager of the business group, Michael Spoor, said that this initiative is part of the 2021 sustainability plan that Ocho Sur has been executing in 23 surrounding communities, which also includes support with medical campaigns in coordination with the Health Directorate. of the Regional Government of Ucayali.
He added that, in addition, they have contributed with the delivery of food to these neighboring communities, which were seriously affected by the Covid-19 health crisis and the heavy flooding that the area experienced this year.
“Since the beginning of our operations in 2016, we have been working hard to contribute to improving the standard of living of all our neighbors by promoting health, education, infrastructure, and basic services, always in coordination with government authorities,” said the senior Ocho Sur official.
He stressed that the signing of this agreement with the Santa Clara de Uchunya community demonstrates that the company and the community have a good relationship and that they wish to work together, despite certain interests of third parties that constantly seek to confuse public opinion and create non-existent confrontations.
“The Ocho Sur group ratifies its absolute respect for the native and mestizo communities, their leaders, and their cultures, as well as its commitment to continue working for the inclusive development of all families in the neighboring communities and the Ucayali Region,” he stressed. Michael Spoor.
