Regarding the misleading information published on the digital outlet Infórmate Ucayali claiming that Ocho Sur is illegally occupying land allegedly owned by a farmer, we we clarify the facts as follows:
- The land in question has been peacefully and uninterruptedly occupied by Ocho Sur since 2016, without any objections or claims. The total area represents less than 1% of the company’s estate.
- In 2023, an individual previously unknown to the company, who does not reside in the area, suddenly appeared demanding that the company purchase the land for excessively high amounts.
- The alleged owner and the land in question are currently under criminal investigation for the crimes of money laundering and land trafficking, with the case formally under review by the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office.
- In light of these facts, Ocho Sur does not recognize the validity or legality of this claim.
- The first-instance ruling has been appealed, and Ocho Sur is confident that, as in many other similar cases in the region, the higher Peruvian courts will ultimately deliver justice.
