San Pablo de Juantía and Naranjal Crowned Champions of the 4th Ocho Sur Cup 2025 in Nueva Requena

The 4th Ocho Sur Cup 2025 concluded with a vibrant sports celebration in Nueva Requena. San Pablo de Juantía and Naranjal were crowned champions in the Men’s and Women’s categories, strengthening unity and community spirit through football in Ucayali.

A Celebration of Sports and Community in Ucayali

As planned, on Sunday, September 21, the Grand Final of the 4th Ocho Sur Cup 2025 turned into a true sports festival at the Nueva Requena Stadium.
The champions were San Pablo de Juantía (Men’s Category) and Naranjal (Women’s Category), both representing rural communities in the Ucayali region.

The tournament — organized annually by Ocho Sur, a Peruvian company dedicated to the sustainable production of palm oil in Ucayali — featured special guests such as Ruth Karina, “The Queen of Tecnocumbia,” and Peruvian football legends Sergio “Checho” Ibarra and Germán Leguía, former national team players.

2025 Champions

At noon, the women’s final between Naranjal and San Juan de Tahuapoa kicked off under the blazing sun.
Naranjal won 1–0, becoming the 2025 Women’s Champion and earning S/ 20,000 to invest in a community project.
San Juan de Tahuapoa took second place, receiving S/ 10,000 and silver medals.

Later, in the men’s final, San Pablo de Juantía defeated Naranjal with a solid 2–0 victory, claiming the Men’s Championship Title of the 4th Ocho Sur Cup 2025.

In the Women’s Category, Santa Clara de Uchunya secured third place (S/ 5,000 prize) after defeating Bajo Rayal (S/ 3,000).
In the Men’s Category, Nueva Esperanza took third place (S/ 5,000) after a 4–3 win over Unión Progreso (S/ 3,000).

Recognition and Awards

Prizes and medals were presented by Alfonso Morante, senior executive of Ocho Sur; Liz Jajaira Vásquez, mayor of Nueva Requena; and football legends Sergio “Checho” Ibarra and Germán Leguía, who also participated in the closing ceremony.

During the Grand Final, Michael Spoor, Executive Director of Ocho Sur, sent a message of appreciation to all participants:

“We congratulate each player, coach, and family who has been part of this 4th Ocho Sur Cup for their dedication, sportsmanship, and joy, which deeply inspire us.”

Alfonso Morante also thanked the people of Nueva Requena and Curimaná for their participation, emphasizing that

“The Ocho Sur Cup stands for unity, teamwork, excellence, perseverance, and above all, the joy of our people.”

The Cup that Unites Communities

The Ocho Sur Cup has become a tradition in Ucayali’s community football, bringing together men and women from local towns and native communities to promote sportsmanship and unity.
Since its first edition in 2022, the tournament has attracted growing participation and enthusiasm, reflecting Ocho Sur’s ongoing commitment to social development and community integration through sports.
