WE RESPECT THE AUTONOMY OF INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

11 October, 2025

Following the recent publication by the NGO IDL, which attributes to us responsibility for an internal dispute within the native community of San Francisco de Yarinacocha, the Ocho Sur Group regrets the circulation of unfounded information that creates confusion and undermines trust among regional stakeholders. Accuracy and truthfulness are essential for constructive dialogue, especially when it involves indigenous communities.

In this regard, we reaffirm:

  1. Respect for the self-determination of indigenous communities is a non-negotiable principle for Ocho Sur.

  2. Our operations strictly adhere to their systems of self-governance and sovereign decision-making.

  3. Ocho Sur Group has no business plans or active commercial relationships with the native community of San Francisco de Yarinacocha, nor with any of its individual members.
It is the exclusive right of the community to decide with whom and how to establish productive partnerships.

  4. We make a respectful but firm call to the NGO IDL to publicly correct the information disseminated and to stop spreading unverified data that harms our company.
We believe that the debate on the development of the Amazon should be based on facts, not on speculation or false information that fosters conflict.
  5. We will continue working based on solidarity, trust, and transparency—values through which we have built lasting bonds with our neighbors and that drive our contribution to the future of Ucayali.
