OCHO SUR DENIES MISLEADING CLAIMS ABOUT ALLEGED LAND EVICTION IN UCAYALI

26 January, 2026

Ocho Sur has publicly clarified misleading information circulated by the digital outlet Infórmate Ucayali and echoed by other media, which falsely claimed that the company is illegally occupying land allegedly owned by a local farmer. These claims lack factual and legal basis.

The company explained that the land in question represents less than 0.5% of the total area where it carries out sustainable oil palm production in Ucayali, and that this area has been peacefully and continuously occupied and managed since July 2016, the year Ocho Sur was legally established. During this entire period, no disputes or claims were raised.

Ocho Sur further stated that only in 2023 did an unknown individual—who does not reside in the area—emerge, demanding the payment of disproportionately high sums of money in exchange for an alleged property right over the land.

The company compared this situation to someone suddenly claiming ownership of a space within a house that has been lawfully inhabited by its owner for an entire lifetime.

Additionally, Ocho Sur reported that both the alleged owner and the disputed land are currently under criminal investigation for money laundering and land trafficking, proceedings that have been formally initiated before the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office. This further undermines the legitimacy of the claim.

In this context, Ocho Sur stated that it does not recognize the validity or legality of the alleged property rights invoked, and reiterated its full confidence in the Peruvian justice system.

The company also noted that the first-instance ruling has been appealed, and expressed its expectation that higher courts, consistent with outcomes in similar cases in the region, will rule in accordance with the law.

Finally, Ocho Sur regretted the dissemination of unverified information and reaffirmed its commitment to legality, sustainable production, transparency, and respect for the rule of law in all its operations.
