The fifth edition of the Intercommunity Football Tournament “Ocho Sur Cup 2026” returns on Sunday, May 31, with Nueva Requena Stadium set to host one of the most significant community sporting events in the Ucayali region. Organized by the Ocho Sur Group — a leading company in sustainable palm oil production in Peru — the tournament brings together rural communities through sport, social integration, and shared cultural identity.
Widely known as “the cup that unites communities,” this year’s edition will feature 30 football teams representing 16 rural and native communities, villages, and populated centers across the districts of Nueva Requena and Curimaná. The competition includes 16 men’s teams and 14 women’s teams, reflecting the tournament’s growing commitment to promoting women’s football in the Peruvian Amazon.
The opening ceremony will include a parade of all participating delegations before local authorities, media, and the general public. Admission to Nueva Requena Stadium will be free of charge, welcoming families and community members to be part of this regional football celebration.
A highlight of this year’s edition will be the participation of two distinguished former professional footballers, who will each perform the ceremonial kick-off for the women’s and men’s matches, officially opening the competition. The tournament will then continue week after week across the participating communities throughout Ucayali.
Further details on the championship format, team lineup, and full event schedule will be announced at a press conference on Wednesday, May 20.
Through initiatives such as the Ocho Sur Cup, the Ocho Sur Group continues to strengthen its long-term commitment to sustainable development, community engagement, and the promotion of sport as a driver of social inclusion and cultural identity across the Peruvian Amazon.
