Descargar PDF Ocho Sur has strengthened its leadership in sustainable palm oil production in Ucayali, Peru, after earning three major international organic certifications. These certifications were granted under the Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS), by Control Union Certifications B.V. of the Netherlands, and through USDA Organic, the official organic certification program of the United States Department of Agriculture.
The certifications were awarded following rigorous assessment processes conducted by the three certifying organizations. The evaluations verified Ocho Sur’s compliance with strict international organic production standards and confirmed that its agricultural operations follow globally recognized best practices.
Michael Spoor, Chief Executive Officer of Ocho Sur, announced the achievement and emphasized that it reaffirms the company’s commitment to a modern and inclusive agricultural model aligned with the highest international standards across all its operations.
Ocho Sur certified a total of 2,234 hectares of oil palm crops at its Zanja Seca plantation as organic, making it one of the largest organic oil palm plantations in Latin America.
Spoor also noted that these international organic certifications expand and diversify Ocho Sur’s portfolio of high-quality products for global markets. In addition, they create new opportunities for partner farmers and local communities connected to the company’s value chain.
These new certifications complement the environmental and social initiatives that Ocho Sur continues to implement to promote the sustainable development of the Ucayali region and improve the quality of life of communities involved in agricultural activities.
