Within the framework of a public assembly held in the San Francisco de Yarinacocha Native Community, capital of the Shipibo people, five Shipibas communities and the Ocho Sur company ratified their willingness to work with respect and transparency for the sustainable development of the region.
At this important event, held in the Ucayali jungle in Peru, the leaders of the native Shipiba communities of San Francisco de Yarinacocha, Nuevo Egypt, Santa Clara de Uchunya, Santa Clara de Yarinacocha and Shambo Porvenir gathered, as well as the main executives of Ocho Sur who participated in a conversation with the population.
The leaders of these communities stated that the company’s activities constitute a light of hope for the development of their populations and expressed their intention to work in peace and jointly with Ocho Sur in productive agricultural projects.
For his part, Michael Spoor, general manager of Ocho Sur, was very flattered by the invitation to this meeting and stated that the company is always willing to work hand in hand with its neighbors to improve the living conditions of the population, taking care forests and the environment; and respecting the culture and traditions of each of the communities that inhabit the Peruvian jungle.
“Since the beginning of our activities in 2016, Ocho Sur has been demonstrating that high-productivity formal agriculture can prosper in harmony with the conservation of biodiversity and the inclusive development of communities; being the best alternative to fight against illegal activities and stop the deforestation that threatens the Peruvian Amazon every day,” added Spoor.
