KOKAMAS NATIVES ALREADY HAVE WATER IN THEIR COMMUNITY

Within the framework of its policy of social responsibility and relationship with its neighbors, the Ocho Sur Business Group dedicated to the sustainable production of palm products and derivatives in Ucayali, helped to realize the desire of the Kokama natives to have water in their community.

Thus, in a joint effort with the residents of the Kokama Native Community, Ocho Sur collaborated in the work to provide water to the community, including the construction of a double elevated tank that, with a powerful generating set for pumping, It guarantees they have the liquid element for 24 hours.

In this regard, the lieutenant governor of Kokama, Elmer Panduro, expressed his gratitude to the palm oil company for its contribution to the residents of the native community, by now being able to have water suitable for human consumption, food preparation, hygiene and domestic purposes.

For his part, the deputy head of the community, Francisco Pacaya, highlighted that the water is of good quality and crystal clear. “All of Kokama and the other neighboring communities are grateful to Ocho Sur for their contribution to us.”

Likewise, community member Sulmira Onorbe also expressed her joy at having finally put an end to the suffering she experienced for many years, lacking water in the community and having to bring it from many kilometers on foot, in motorcycles or vans.

In this context, the general manager of the business group, Michael Spoor, said that this initiative is part of the 2021 Sustainability Plan that Ocho Sur has been executing in 23 surrounding communities, which also includes free medical campaigns in coordination with the Government Health Directorate. Regional.

“Since the beginning of our operations in 2016, we have worked hard to contribute to improving the standard of living of our neighbors, promoting health, education, infrastructure, and basic services in coordination with local and regional authorities,” said the senior official of Ocho Sur.
