OCHO SUR DELIVERS INTERNET CONNECTIVITY TO SANTA CLARA DE UCHUNYA

After 51 years of being founded, the Santa Clara de Uchunya native community located in the Nueva Requena district, Ucayali region, sees its existence transform and makes a turn to technological modernity, now having high-speed internet connectivity.

The significant change in this Shipiba-Koniba population is due to the important support provided by Ocho Sur, a business group dedicated to the sustainable production of oil palm products and derivatives in that region, within the framework of its social responsibility and community relations policy. .

This was announced by Michael Spoor, general manager of Ocho Sur, who added that the arrival of high-speed internet to Santa Clara de Uchunya has allowed this native community to integrate into the world, obtain the benefits of information and be able to show their culture abroad, directly and without intermediaries.

“The digital connectivity installed in this population of the Shipiba-Koniba ethnic group represents a before and after, allowing the education and health of their families to be substantially improved,” said the Ocho Sur executive.

Spoor explained that this digital connectivity is possible thanks to Starlink Peru’s innovative technology, which provides high-speed broadband internet via satellite.

Meanwhile, Wilson Barbarán, head of Santa Clara de Uchunya, stated that “we can now communicate with agricultural engineers, health professionals and educators. “We are informed and we do not need to travel to the city of Pucallpa to be aware of what is happening.”

For his part, Professor Daniel Alcides, director of the Santa Clara de Uchunya school, pointed out that with the Internet his students now have the possibility of expanding their horizons and having more tools for their future; Likewise, it allows teachers to carry out specialized studies and continue with their academic training.

Meanwhile, nurse Cris Madrid Prieto, head of the Health Post of that native community, pointed out that the impact of this improvement has been significant for health personnel, because in real time it can be linked with the national health network for different procedures, train, carry out teleconsultations and transfers in case of emergency.
