The educational center, which will house more than 30 girls and boys at the primary education level, was built with noble materials in conjunction with the residents of the hamlet and is registered with the Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL) of Coronel Portillo.

The new premises of the educational institution have been built on a 160-square-meter plot of land and consist of 2 school classrooms, a management room, bathrooms for male and female students; with a modern building implemented with electricity, water and drainage. This replaces the previous one built of wood and which was already in poor condition.

At the delivery ceremony, Alfonso Morante, director of Ocho Sur, stated that this work is part of the company’s social responsibility program, aimed at strengthening the region and the well-being of the population of the 23 neighboring communities, in the areas of health education, infrastructure and sports.

“This is the second school center that we delivered this year and we will continue to do others in coordination with the authorities and the population, because education is the future of the region and is a priority to achieve the dreams of the children and young people, who tomorrow will be the drivers of the development of our country,” said the director of the palm oil company.

He added that Ocho Sur is convinced that the best way to combat climate change and protect the forest and its biodiversity is to improve the standard of living of the populations of the Amazon and generate inclusive development.

“Poverty and social injustice are the roots of this problem, as they encourage illicit and informal activities that depredate the forest,” noted Alfonso Morante.

During the ceremony, the virtual mayor-elect of the Nueva Requena district, Humberto Banda Estela, was present, who had words of praise for the work delivered to the population of Bajo Rayal.

Likewise, the regional director of Education of Ucayali, Clara Quispe Torres, expressed her congratulations to Ocho Sur for the inclusive approach it provides to education in Ucayali, highlighting the initiative to support communities far from the urban center. “We will provide this school with the needs,” she remarked.
