OCHO SUR MOURNS TRAGIC EVENTS IN NUEVA REQUENA AND DEMANDS JUSTICE

In response to the deeply regrettable acts of violence reported in the territory of the Native Community of Santa Clara de Uchunya, Ocho Sur states the following:

  1. We express our profound sorrow over the loss of a young life and our solidarity with those who have been injured.
  2. We call for the full respect of the territorial integrity of the Native Community of Santa Clara de Uchunya, as well as the physical safety of all its community members.
  3. We reject the use of violence as a means of conflict resolution and deplore the fact that it has led to the commission of crimes that must be thoroughly investigated by the authorities.
  4. We urge calm, dialogue, and strict adherence to legal channels for the resolution of disputes.
  5. We call upon the authorities to act with the utmost urgency and impartiality in order to clarify the events that have taken place.
  6. We regret the lack of timely and just legal solutions to land conflicts on the part of the State, as well as the absence of legal certainty that undermines the rights of all Peruvians.

Ocho Sur reaffirms its commitment to respect for life, justice, social peace, and harmonious coexistence.
